About us

Lidingö Pilates & Yoga center

As early as January 2007, we started on a small scale, then as part of Lidingö Gymnastikskola. There we continued to develop and grow until 2012. Then we felt ready to stand on our own two feet under the name Lidingö Pilates & Yoga. Our ambition is to create both an external and internal oasis for you and everyone else who needs a genuine and dedicated moment on the mat every week. We offer healthy, gentle, effective training and tools to create peace of mind and for personal development. We are convinced that all the pieces are needed for us to become the best version of ourselves. We are also convinced that the regularity, the competent and personal teacher who sees you and creates a common thread in your practice on the mat are important parts for you to find your inner motivation and experience development. We also have a wide range of varied courses with different focus and intensity so that you can find the right course for you right now. In the phase of life where you are. It varies over the years and many things come into play. With us, you should always feel that there is a course that suits you, right now. Because above all yoga, but also pilates with us, is more than a form of exercise, it is an approach to life.

See you on the mat!

Mia Eriksson Holst
I have been active as a gymnastics coach for over 25 years, equally divided between children's gymnastics and elite gymnastics and the last nine years also in yoga and pilates.

It was when I was expecting my second child and both missed being able to exercise properly to feel good, but also needed to acquire mental tools for stress management and inner peace, that yoga entered my life. I immediately felt that this is what we have to offer at Lidingö.

Physical genuine yoga. I love that there are so many aspects, good physical exercise, reflection and recovery. Yoga became my guide in life. The Pilates came in a little later, but I became equally lyrical when I discovered the benefits of Pilates.

I am passionate about being able to share these forms of exercise that ultimately lead to well-being by making you strong, alert, pain-free and full of energy.

In 2013 I underwent the most extensive instructor licensing in pilates, with Stott Pilates® and am now a pilates instructor. I have previously attended many sports injury training courses and led pregnancy yoga and mother-child training for many years and have a great interest in anatomy and personal, individualized training. Since spring 2014, I am a licensed pregnancy yoga teacher.

I have my coaching training both in Sweden under the Gymnastics Association, where I also worked as an instructor and licensed coach, and abroad through a long and solid practice in Italy in elite gymnastics and in Thailand in yoga. I have owned and run the yoga studio Azayayoga in Stockholm, been a trainer for competitive gymnasts in the Viking Gymnastics Team for 17 years. In 2003 I founded Lidingö Gymnastics School, which I still own and run.

Tim Kasper
Tim was born in the USA, raised and educated in Chicago, New York, Paris and Las Vegas. He has a very long and passionate history and relationship with the study of the physical body, how it moves and expresses itself.

Tim has spent over 30 years shaping and refining his viewpoint and understanding of the natural functions of the body and its interaction with the nervous system; not least the body's complete and total reliance on clear communication with the brain, the role of intention and the psyche, and the ways in which perceptions and thoughts color our responses, voluntarily or otherwise.

As an actor, singer, dancer, choreographer, and later, designer of theater, Tim has always explored techniques that promised to liberate what he now calls "the natural mechanisms" of the body, voice, and creativity, as well as the organic listening and responding of an actor . Tim consequently began to realize the importance of silencing the critical mind that was disruptive and counterproductive, and the magic that occurs naturally when we are “present,” “in the moment,” “connected to the breath,” “visualizing,” “sensing,” and "in our bodies".

Tim eventually found his way to Pilates. Today, the above concepts are central to his interpretation of the Pilates method. He believes that it is not what you do, but how you do it, that determines whether something is done in the true spirit of Pilates. Pilates is not just a series of exercises, it is not defined by a choreography. It is intentional and a perspective based on healthy physiological movement. It is a philosophy and a way of life.

Tim has helped people all over the world develop an awareness of their own body, through a better understanding of Pilates and the intention behind it. From NYC, on Broadway's steps to Jacob's pillow in Berkshire, at The Julio Bocca School in Buenos Aires, in Russia, Poland, France, Japan, and today Sweden, he continues to learn while teaching both dance, yoga and Pilates, and hoping in this way to be able to help people discover a deeper experience of life and a richer relationship with themselves.

Daniel Sandberg
For Daniel, yoga is a never-ending source of inspiration, joy of life and gratitude. Daniel is forever a humble and curious student of yoga which is his balance and healing power in life.

After some time as a student in China, Daniel moved to Thailand where he lived for five years and it was there that he found yoga and began to practice seriously. At the same time, Daniel studied meditation according to the Buddhist tradition and therefore yoga and meditation have always gone hand in hand for him.

Yoga completely changed Daniel's attitude towards life and he knew without a doubt that this is what he wanted to work on for the rest of my life. He trained as a vinyasa and hatha yoga teacher in Rishikesh, India and has since been a yoga instructor in Thailand and now in Sweden.
Daniel thinks it is important to get to know his students and wants to make everyone feel comfortable with themselves on the mat and feel really good, without feeling performance requirements.

He places great emphasis on the whole of a yoga session and therefore participants in his classes practice not only strength, balance and flexibility, but also pranayama (breathing) and meditation, which are equally important parts of his lessons.

Mirja Blomqvist
When I was expecting my fourth child 18 years ago, I needed to find something where just the child and I could have some quiet time together. I signed up for a pregnancy yoga class and then I was hooked.

I then continued with mother/baby yoga, ashtanga, vinyasa, hatha yoga and went on several yoga retreats.

At first it was a great workout for me as an old gymnast, but now I appreciate more and more the spiritual part of yoga and also meditation.

Has worked as a yoga teacher since 2015 and is trained in Global Yoga, children's and teenage yoga, pregnancy yoga, mother/baby yoga, yin yoga, restorative yoga and yoga nidra. Is also trained as a zone therapist/ear acupuncture, birth with doula support and in reiki.

Julia Bäckman
Julia is a trained yoga teacher in Global yoga and pregnancy yoga within Embodied flow. Julia's classes are soft, flowing and occasionally challenging. She is particularly interested in calmer forms of yoga, functional movement, yoga for pregnant women and yoga after childbirth.

One of the most important things for Julia is that everyone who does yoga has different bodies, needs and conditions. There is no right way to do, breathe or look when doing yoga. Awareness and acceptance are therefore recurring themes in Julia's classes.

During Julia's own pregnancy and birth, yoga was a great help. Carrying and giving birth to children places great demands on the body, breathing and mind, and yoga is a good tool to bring them together, but also a good way to recover the body after a birth.

Julia also works as a layman. psychologist and doctoral student in psychiatry.
